Glockenspiel: 25 note glockenspiel with bag & Mike Balter Custom Mallets

$118.98

NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY

Here’s the CB 25 note glockenspiel including a pair of our Mike Balter Custom Mallets. This glockenspiel (also known as a set of bells) is a great pathway into learning instrumental music.The instrument comes with a carrying case, a pair of two headed stock mallets, and a pair of our Mike Balter Custom Mallets (explained below).

This is a great value for a quality instrument. Have a listen to our audio demo:

MALLETS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE — LISTEN FOR YOURSELF (below)  The stock mallets that come with this instrument are two headed (hard and soft sides) and have gimpy plastic handles. The hard side requires an incredibly soft touch to avoid playing uncomfortably loud. That’s why we came up with the Mike Balter Custom bell mallets (shown below). Warm sounding with birch handles, these mallets were custom designed by Rob Zollman and Mike Balter, and are simply the best mallets we know of for this type of instrument. Purchased separately they cost $22.99, but only $18.99 with the purchase of this instrument.

If you’d like to purchase the instrument without the Mike Balter Custom bell mallets, please go to our listing for this instrument only.

Also, if you already have the instrument, you can purchase only the Mike Balter Custom Mallets, available here in our online store.

We also have another type of mallet available. After we designed the regular mallet, we realized we needed another mallet that projects better from the stage. Hence the Mike Balter Custom Performance Mallet, which has a smaller ball than the stock mallet and therefore doesn’t overwhelm the instrument. Plenty of volume without being obnoxious. Now the instrument sounds great when you practice with the regular Mike Balter mallets, and also projects very nicely from the stage with the Performance Mallets.

SAVE $5 The cost of these mallets is normally $23.99, but only $18.99 when you buy a bell kit. For your convenience, we’ve listed most combinations — instrument only, mallets only, etc. Just find the right one for your needs and you’re good to go. If you don’t see what you want, email us and we’ll give a price, then send you Paypal invoice for the total. We ship same day as, or next day after purchase.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison between different mallets:

* For your information:
People are always asking us about the brand of our glockenspiels. We’ve seen, heard and sold several brands of 25 and 32 note glocks, and we’ve concluded that nearly all of them are the same, regardless of brand. Perhaps they are all made in the same factory in Taiwan or China, but, aside of price, we believe there is very little difference between one and another. So, when you see a 25 or 32 note glockenspiel in “Percussion Plus”, “Rhythm Art”, “CB”, “Innovative” or “Musser”, they’re all similar. One may have a slightly heavier stand, or a sturdier music rack. Please contact us if you have information to the contrary, because we’d like to know it.

Glockenspiel is another word for song bells or orchestra bells. We have it on good authority that glocken comes from the German “glocken”, which means bells, and spiel, which is the verb “to play” and also the noun “game”. So glockenspiel could mean either play the bells or bell-game. In any case, the glockenspiel is part of the metallophone family, which also includes chimes (tubular bells), vibraphones and metal tube bells.
Often the glockenspiel is referred to as a xylophone, but it’s not. The word xylophone translates to xylos = wood and phone = sound. Types of xylophones include the concert, marching, pit xylophones, and also the marimba.
